Steven McCarney

Steven McCarney is an attorney who represents businesses, insurers, property owners, and individuals in complex disputes across a wide variety of civil litigation practice areas. Steven’s practice focuses primarily on business law, employment law, and insurance litigation, with an emphasis on coverage and real property disputes, construction litigation, contractor-related matters, contracts, and trusts. He regularly handles all phases of litigation, from case evaluation and strategy development through discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, and settlement negotiations. Prior to joining DeWitt, Steven represented clients in a broad range of civil litigation matters, including insurance, construction, business, employment, banking, drainage, and personal injury. He also represented clients in trust, estate, and business planning matters. He practiced complex railroad litigation in state and federal courts nationwide, representing railroad employees in injury and whistleblower claims.

Steven has experience appearing before state and federal courts in multiple jurisdictions and has argued before appellate courts, including the North Dakota Supreme Court. His broad litigation background enables him to approach disputes with a comprehensive understanding of risk, strategy, and client objectives.
