Ron has made his professional career as both a business lawyer and a government relations consultant (a.k.a lobbyist – state and formerly federal). He made his undergraduate career both in economics and as a collegiate oarsman.
The economics interests continue to this day, and have proven valuable to his business law practice. The rowing (easily the equal in time and effort as his economics studies) proved to be perfect training for his government relations career, as both rowing and government intervention require exceptional teamwork, exquisite timing, strategic thinking, a very strong will, and an exceptional tolerance for pain.
Nearly half of Ron’s client base is Wisconsin production agriculture. The other half of his representation of client interests is more diverse and includes: insurance, biotechnology, mining and manufacturing.
Although the author of occasional articles, most often related to politics or environmental law, Ron’s government relations practice generally recommends against being a prolific author. Likewise, his speaking engagements, although frequent, are almost always for an audience whose interests are very issue specific—and not available to the general public or media.
Ron has made a career of representing many professional, business, industrial and agricultural organizations—he has applied nearly equal zeal to not joining any.
Awards & Recognitions
Best Lawyers in America ® since 2009.Ron has received a few valued awards during his professional career. He was most honored to represent the University of Wisconsin as an athlete during his undergraduate years at the University of Wisconsin. The only specific awards worthy of note are three fly fishing world records—long since broken by several superior fishermen. A few friends, clients and colleagues have been complimentary of his watercolor paintings.
