Tara M. Mathison

As a member of the firm’s Trust & Estates practice group, Tara brings more than 17 years of legal experience to DeWitt.  She enjoys connecting with individuals, families, and business owners to gain a solid understanding of their values, their concerns and their goals.  Through her personalized approach, Tara delivers peace of mind with preparation of thoughtful and comprehensive estate plans customized to achieve the widely varying goals presented by each client situation. 

In addition to estate plan preparation, Tara also represents clients in probate and trust administrations.  Tapping into her extensive experience managing complex commercial litigation, Tara also handles fiduciary litigation matters, counseling clients faced with the legal and emotional challenges imposed by estate-related disputes. She also has first-hand experience managing a local non-profit organization. She has been involved in all aspects of development, policy-making, grant-making, managing finances, as well as tax and regulatory compliance.  

Whether counseling families with modest estates or preparing more complicated planning for blended families, generational business owners, or families with large estates requiring advanced tax planning, Tara enjoys getting to know each client and finding effective ways to serve their needs.   

Tara practices from the Brookfield and Madison offices.  She lives in Lake Country with her husband and two children where she enjoys hiking, camping, skiing and preparing delicious food for family and friends.
