Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion | DeWitt LLP

What Does Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Mean to DeWitt?

At DeWitt, we view diversity not only through the lens of gender, age, race, religion, sexual orientation and more—but also through a multitude of characteristics that make us individually unique. Our attorneys and staff have long embraced diverse opinions, backgrounds, cultural experiences, political affiliations and more. Our culture is one that includes a multi-faceted, multi-generational team that comes together to create positive experiences for our clients and ourselves.

How Diverse is DeWitt?

Our firm proudly employs individuals representing various ages, ethnic groups, sexual orientations, religions, genders, disabilities and more. Importantly, the measure of our diversity is more than numbers and statistics—it is also reflected in our interpersonal relationships. At DeWitt, our attorneys and staff enjoy spending time together, sharing ideas and collaborating on successful approaches, while each bringing unique perspectives to the table. While our members are individually unique, we also embrace our common bond of being an important part of DeWitt and its goal to deliver the best results to our clients while having fun and learning during the process.

DeWitt’s administrative leadership team reflects a fair balance of women and men. In our attorney leadership ranks, our practice groups are chaired by a diverse representation of attorneys as well. Importantly, DeWitt proudly employs people with disabilities and has found their contributions to our firm to be invaluable. We are proud of our firm and continue to embrace thoughtful approaches to diversity, recruiting, and expanding our talents at all levels of the firm.

What are DeWitt’s Strategic Plans for Diversity Now and in the Future?

To maintain and encourage diversity within the firm and to improve upon our efforts for future generations, it takes measured, proactive, and diligent steps. DeWitt has a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.   Its members represent a cross section of attorneys and staff throughout the firm. The Committee works on a variety of initiatives related to the firm’s efforts in continuing to foster an inclusive and diverse environment at DeWitt. Recruitment and retention of talent, identifying organizations and pro-bono opportunities that foster diversity, supporting community initiatives, internal training, and more are a few of the focus areas of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. In addition, each year the Firm actively works to target diversity opportunities at the law clerk and student recruitment levels and proactively works to identify unique lateral attorney opportunities.

Community Efforts with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Whether we are assisting the LGBTQ+ community in their efforts to educate people on the laws related to same-sex marriage or are supporting non-profits such as the Wisconsin Equal Justice Foundation, Junior Achievement, The Red Cross Society, or Agrace Hospice care for the elderly—it is clear through the broad range of our efforts that diversity, understanding, inclusion and philanthropy are pillars that remain strong within our firm.
