Eric Peterson helps individuals, families, business owners, and fiduciaries navigate estate planning and administration—from developing the right plan to resolving difficult issues as they arise.

Eric advises clients on wills and trusts, marital property agreements, powers of attorney, estate and gift tax planning, probate and trust administration, business succession planning, guardianships, and related matters. He also assists clients with complex trust and estate matters, including trust modifications and settlements, fiduciary disputes, contested estates, creditor claims, and tax issues. That combination of planning and dispute experience gives Eric a practical perspective. He understands that a well-designed estate plan must do more than look good on paper; it must account for family dynamics, taxes, business interests, asset ownership, and the problems that can arise after incapacity or death. Eric works with clients to understand their goals, identify potential complications, and develop a plan that works in the real world.

When disputes arise, Eric brings a practical approach to finding a path forward. His experience includes forensic reviews of fiduciary activity, contested probate matters, inheritance and trust disputes, and disputing creditor claims. He has helped clients preserve significant estate and trust assets through negotiated resolutions and court proceedings.

Eric earned his J.D. from Marquette University Law School, where he served as coordinating editor of the Marquette Benefits and Social Welfare Law Review. He earned his B.A. in Economics, cum laude, from Northern Illinois University, and he was a Distinguished Military Graduate.

Before becoming an attorney, Eric served as an officer in the U.S. Army. As a primary staff officer for a task force of over 900 personnel, he coordinated the deployment of his task force and its attachments, and managed equipment and property valued in excess of $250 million. That experience continues to inform the disciplined, coordinated, and practical approach he brings to complex client matters.

Eric is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Racine County Bar Association. He has also been involved with the United Way of Kenosha County and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Racine. Outside the office, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife, investing time in his children, and permaculture.
