DeWitt LLP Opens Mequon Office, with Attorney Michael G. May Heading New Location
DeWitt LLP announced attorney Michael G. May has joined the law firm as a partner and will be leading its new office in Mequon expanding upon its footprint in Brookfield, Green Bay, Madison, and Minneapolis. May’s practice is focused on family wealth transfers, business succession, retirement distribution planning, executive benefits, and charitable techniques.
May is a key addition for DeWitt as it continues to grow both its geographic reach and Trust and Estates practice in response to “The Great Wealth Transfer” – the forecasted hand-off of trillions of dollars from the older Silent Generation and aging Baby Boomers to their young Generation-X, Millennial, and Generation-Z adult children and grandchildren over the next 20 years. DeWitt is highly skilled at addressing tax law uncertainty, sophisticated planning needs, and complex assets like family businesses, investment properties, and international holdings.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michael to the firm as his tremendous financial and business expertise will greatly benefit our clients,” said Timothy L. Stewart, President & Managing Partner at DeWitt. “We’re confident with Michael at the helm, our new Northshore location will thrive – serving a growing number of clients and achieve rapid success.”
With 30 years of experience working in estate and business planning, May has authored many publications on sophisticated estate planning, business succession, charitable giving, and compensation planning. He is a well-regarded speaker who regularly presents on these topics at conferences across the U.S. He is known for his ability to explain complex issues in easily understandable terms for his clients.
“Joining DeWitt was a natural step and a strong succession plan for my practice. I am looking forward to helping the firm to expand its reach and grow its business by serving more clients with additional legal counsel and support,” said May.
Prior to DeWitt, May led a private practice based out of Mequon. He holds a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, and is a Certified Financial Planner™.
