“Certified EO” Launches in September 2017

Sep 29, 2017 | Timothy L. Stewart

In an article on, Darren Dahl discussed the creation of a new employee ownership association called “Certified EO” (EO for employee-owned). Some of the first members of the group are Modern Times Beer (San Diego) and media agency Butler/Till (Rochester, NY).

As described in the article, the firms are attempting to further leverage their ESOPs in both their marketing and their cultures. Further, one of the founders of Certified EO, Thomas Dudley, has found that consumers are actually willing to buy more and pay more for products and services offered by employee-owned businesses.

Like the ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO), Certified EO is a venue where its members can share their best practices in effectuating a true “ownership mentality” in their employees.
