As Christopher’s client, you will have an advocate who will zealously represent you in court while also recognizing the value of staying out of court whenever possible.   His approach to the practice of law is to not necessarily be aggressive for the sake of being aggressive, but to be assertive, strategic, and smart in how to best achieve his client’s objectives.  A unique aspect of Christopher’s relationship with his clients is that he recognizes that his role as an attorney is to not simply tell the client what he or she wants to hear, but what he or she needs to hear.  He takes his role not only as a legal advocate seriously but also as a counselor of law which often requires legal advice and recommendations that can save the client from unnecessary legal fees and unfavorable outcomes.    He is an attorney who will have a frank and honest discussion with his clients about the advantages and disadvantages of the client’s case.   The client will always have control over the substantive decisions in his or her case and Christopher makes sure that those decisions are informed decisions.  When the client’s decision is to litigate in Court, Christopher is a strong, experienced, and respected voice in the courtroom.

Academy Fellows enjoy a reputation for professionalism, competence and integrity. In order to be invited as a Fellow, the candidate must meet rigorous professional standards including recommendations from fellow attorneys and judges, and pass a state and national exam on only family law legal issues.  For more information on the Academy, click here.

In addition to being recognized for his skills as an attorney for his clients, Christopher is one of the few attorneys also recognized for his exemplary contributions to the legal profession.  In 2018, Christopher was inducted as a Fellow with the Wisconsin Law Foundation.   The Fellows of the Wisconsin Law Foundation is an honorary program, which recognizes members of the profession in Wisconsin who are known by their peers for high achievements in their profession and outstanding contributions for the advancement and improvement of the administration of justice in the State of Wisconsin.   Christopher was also honored by his peers as a Leader in the Law which is a distinction afforded to only a select group of attorneys in the state by the Wisconsin Law Journal.

Christopher offers his clients a team approach to the client’s case which incorporates other attorneys and professionals within the firm at a lower hourly rate.  This team approach is more cost-effective for the client since it allows some of the work to be completed by a lower billable professional in the firm.  The family law team of professionals at DeWitt include associate attorneys, a paralegal, and Christopher’s Legal Assistant, Cody.   And, when needed, Christopher and his client have access to over 100 other lawyers within the firm who practice in many other areas of the law including tax, business, civil litigation, estate planning, and real estate.    If the client prefers that only Christopher works on his or her case, this request can also be accommodated.
