As DeWitt’s former President & Managing Partner, Brad has a unique combination of business management and legal skills. He has a keen insight into business operations and corporate responsibilities and understands the importance of the thoughtful management of key capital resources.

In addition to managing the firm for the past several years, Brad has maintained a varied legal practice.  He provides general counsel-type services to many of his clients, with an emphasis on adding value to each client’s bottom line.  His clients appreciate his ability to “think outside the box” and help them solve the unique challenges each face.  Brad is a skilled business advisor with a knack for knowing when to advise an aggressive approach and when to step back and re-evaluate the situation from a different angle.

Brad also advises businesses on corporate governance, lending a keen eye towards anticipating challenges and avoiding opportunities for discord down the road.  When necessary, he helps clients successfully navigate their way through various corporate documents, policies and procedures to maximize their opportunities.

Brad’s practice also includes extensive experience in labor and employment, construction and general commercial litigation matters.  His labor and employment practice runs the gamut from handling employment issues such as hiring, firing and discrimination matters, to labor issues such as union avoidance, union organizing campaigns and elections, collective bargaining, and arbitrating grievances. He has broad experience drafting and litigating the enforceability of restrictive covenants, including non-compete, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements.

Within the construction industry, Brad works with contractors and developers in drafting and negotiating contracts and juggling the myriad of challenges that inevitably arise during a project, as well as managing all forms of dispute resolution. His commercial litigation practice has allowed him the opportunity to assist businesses in resolving a complex array of issues. He has successfully litigated cases throughout the country on matters ranging from class action wage and hour litigation to insurance coverage and construction defect litigation.

Brad first became involved with firm management in 2005, when he was elected to serve on its Executive Committee. He has served in a variety of roles over the years, most recently as the firm’s President and Managing Partner from 2014 through 2020.  Under Brad’s leadership, Madison’s largest law firm experienced record revenue growth (135%) and significant expansion into its Minneapolis and Greater Milwaukee markets.
