Madison Office Associate - Family Law

DeWitt’s Madison location is seeking a full-time associate attorney with an interest in family law, including handling matters such as divorce, adoption, prenuptial agreements and more.  Preference will be given to attorneys with two or more years of experience in family law, but we may consider the right person with fewer years of experience. The right person will be creative, curious, and patient. It is, after all, a family law position.  A sense of humor is also a plus.

Office Services/Records Clerk - Minneapolis Office 

DeWitt LLP seeks a full-time Office Services/Records Clerk for its Minneapolis, Minnesota location. We are seeking a well-rounded candidate who is savvy with technical skills, professionalism, and the ability and confidence to manage workflow from multiple co-workers. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Back up receptionist duties, greet guests and clients with professionalism in person and via telephone
  • Document reproduction, including printing, copying, scanning, and client file maintenance
  • Assist with mailing documents and packages
  • Maintain location and status of client files using Aderant
  • Assist in implementation of system to digitally retain closed client files
  • There is room for growth in responsibilities as the candidate becomes acclimated

Estate planning and trust and estate responsibilities will include: 

  • Collection of financial, personal, and health-related information
  • Preparation of estate planning documents
  • Document analysis
  • Categorization and understand financial documents related to trust funding
  • Understanding all facets of trust and estate administration
  • Preparation of trust and estate accountings, including preparation of fiduciary tax and estate returns,
  • Understanding of guardianship administration.

Business responsibilities will include:

  • Entity formations, dissolutions
  • Foreign qualifications
  • Issuance and transfer of stock/membership units
  • Annual reporting filing
  • Maintenance of corporate record books
  • UCC preparation and filing

 Qualifications:  

  • Prior law firm experience as a trust and estate and business paralegal
  • Certification or Associate degree from a certified paralegal program

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task while handling a large volume of work
  • Some real estate experience would be a plus.

Parental Leave Policy – Associates

  • The firm provides up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave for the birth of a child and to care for and bond with an associate’s newborn or adopted child. If the associate gives birth, she is entitled to six weeks leave for childbirth and six weeks leave for other parental leave for a total of 12 weeks. If the associate is not the parent giving birth, the associate is provided six weeks of paid parental leave.
