Attorney Spotlight: Jorgen M. Lervick
Jorgen Lervick is an associate attorney in DeWitt’s Minneapolis office. Jorgen is a native North Dakotan and lived in Bismarck for the first part of her life before moving to the Twin Cities. She quadruple majored in French; Government and International Affairs; History; and International Studies at Augustana College (now known as Augustana University) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. While at Augustana, Jorgen studied abroad in Grenoble, France, and also had two internships in the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C. Following college, she moved to Washington D.C. and worked as a paralegal at a large, multi-national law firm. It was there that Jorgen developed a passion for transactional work, spending time in the mergers & acquisitions, energy project finance, energy and infrastructure projects, and global capital markets practice groups.
Jorgen returned to the Twin Cities to attend the University of Minnesota Law School and subsequently decided to get her Master of Business Administration at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management in order to better serve her clients’ business needs. While at Law School, Jorgen was a Managing Editor for the Minnesota Law Review. She also served as a Student Attorney at the University of Minnesota Business Law Clinic where she assisted local entrepreneurs with entity formation, operating agreements, and various contracts relating to their businesses.
During Business School, Jorgen served as co-chair of the Carlson Women’s Leadership Conference, a one-day conference attended by over 400 women (and some men) from the Twin Cities and beyond. In addition, she served as President of the Carlson Fellows & Ambassadors Club, which was tasked with engaging prospective students and assisting with other admissions-related activities. Further, Jorgen served as Managing Director of the Carlson Elite 8 Brand Management Case Competition, a three-day case competition attended by eight different schools around the country. Lastly, Jorgen acted as a Student Consultant at the Carlson Consulting Enterprise, a professionally run consultancy that assists clients in identifying, analyzing, and implementing opportunities for business process improvement and strategic change.
In addition to her many school-related activities, Jorgen also worked as a law clerk for two Fortune 500 agriculture companies in the Twin Cities. There, Jorgen drafted numerous contracts, performed research, and worked directly with the businesses to ensure they could meet their goals while minimizing legal risk. Jorgen also worked as a law clerk at DeWitt. Her combined educational and practical experience allows Jorgen to effectively provide business-focused solutions for her clients.
At DeWitt, Jorgen is a member of the firm’s Business, Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, and Litigation practice groups. Her practice focuses on providing individuals and businesses of all sizes with effective solutions to their legal needs. She assists clients in achieving their business goals through entity formation and reorganization, contract drafting and reviewing, drafting operating agreements/bylaws and other organizational documents, owner agreements, buy-sell agreements, and general corporate matters. She is committed to helping individuals, families, business owners, professionals, and entities with their estate planning and administration needs. Her experience in this arena includes drafting wills, real estate documents, and other estate planning instruments. She also represents clients throughout the probate process and establishes guardianships for individuals with disabilities.
In her free time, Jorgen enjoys spending time with her friends and family. In particular, Jorgen likes visiting one of Minnesota’s many breweries and going to Minnesota Twins games.
