DeWitt Law Clerk, Nina M. Neff, Awarded the Ms. JD Fellowship

MADISON | MILWAUKEE | MINNEAPOLIS – DeWitt LLP announced today its law clerk Nina Neff was one of ten law student women across the country to be recognized by Ms. JD as a 2019 Fellowship Winner. Fellows were selected from across the country on the basis of academic achievement, involvement, passion for the legal profession, and commitment to Ms. JD’s mission of improving the experience of women in the legal profession.

Neff is a rising 3L at University of Wisconsin Law School. Originally from Eastern Washington, she grew up on a carrot farm and was home-schooled before attending Whitman College, where she graduated with honors in History and Philosophy. Before starting law school, Neff managed a women’s shelter, served as an emergency foster parent, and started a non-profit benefiting a cooperative of Egyptian women artisans. These experiences made her passionate about women’s advocacy and access to justice.

At the University of Wisconsin Law School, Neff serves as a Moot Court coach, a Senior Editor of the Wisconsin International Law Journal, and President of the LGBT Law Students Association. She also studies Arabic as a U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow. Neff is interested in administrative law, appellate advocacy, and government relations. She has completed internships with the Veterans Law Center and the Wisconsin Supreme Court and is currently a summer associate at DeWitt LLP.  In her spare time, she enjoys running, cooking, and hiking with her dog.

About Ms. JD.

Ms. JD is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to the success of aspiring and early career women lawyers. Ms. JD is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of law students and recent graduates and supported by a small group of independent contractors. Ms. JD partners with the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession to provide the highly-competitive Ms. JD Fellowship to a select number of women law students each year.

Serving as a unique nexus between the profession and the pipeline of diverse attorneys, Ms. JD’s online community provides a forum for dialogue and networking among women lawyers and law students. With campus chapters throughout the nation, Ms. JD is also home to the National Women Law Students’ Organization. Ms. JD celebrates women’s achievements, addresses remaining challenges, and facilitates continued progress by bringing legal practitioners and law students together to share in an ongoing conversation about gender issues in law school and the profession.
